Salesforce is a cloud computing system for customer relationship management (CRM). Salesforce claims to have reengineered the platform with more than 25 new innovations and is referred to as the Lightning Experience or Lightning Edition. The lightning edition includes Lightning experience, lightning components, lightning design system and lightning app builder to name a few. Salesforce has basically been a customer relationship management software, flexible enough to incorporate more number of roles. The Salesforce solution offers sales related intelligence via decision making reporting tools, dashboard productivity in association with controls that target sales, manage accounts, pool resources and drive the sales process.

Lightning edition has revamped this platform to suit changing trends and market demands. The lightning experience refers to a consumer like experience unrestricted by device. The information surfaces on each screen as streamlined processes and workflows. The lightning experience closes the gap between mobile and desktop experiences and along with added convenience of usage, it convinces employees about the ease of usage and accessibility. Lightning app builder enables users to build apps by using a drag and drop visual interface which is part of the lightning components. Lightning design system refers to the provision of principles for building apps to support multiple devices, operating systems and browsers. The lightning components are reusable application building blocks and can be single user interface or micro services embedded with data and logic.
Salesforce claims that the AppBuilder is too easy to use and can be used by any user in an effective manner. The lightning components too vouch to be easy to customize just by being clicked on and can be bound to data in the Salesforce platform. Developers can easily build components and distribute them via Salesforce or through the AppExchange. Users and admins can easily use these new apps by simple drag and drop method. Lightning components are written in Javascript and on the client side it is CSS. The components bind to Salesforce and Apex controllers in the cloud. It is capable of performing performance optimizations and the platform provides access and security on the cloud.
The lightning edition is a wholesome re-packaging of Sales and service cloud to increase functionality and productivity at a small increase in cost for the customers. While the sales cloud has maintained its three main offers of Professional, Enterprise and Unlimited, it has each version with advanced features. The service cloud although not as popular as the sales cloud, with its three editions of Professional, enterprise and unlimited too has seen a makeover that users will eagerly look forward to. The Salesforce lightning editions are due for release in 2017 and developers and administrators look ahead to see if it is all that it promises to be.
